Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has relocated to Uganda with his family after his diplomatic appointment, as his partner shared a series of family photos on social media showing them settling into their new environment.

President William Ruto appointed Ababu Namwamba as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Uganda on January 21 during a broader reshuffle in the foreign service aimed at strengthening diplomatic representation in the region.

Namwamba later confirmed his arrival in Entebbe with his family, noting that he had officially begun his tour of duty after receiving a warm reception from diplomatic staff at the mission.

His partner, Amy Lucia, drew attention online after posting photos of the family dressed in coordinated outfits, with her son standing between the couple in matching suits.

In the images, Lucia wore a black top with trousers and a white trench coat, while Namwamba appeared in a black suit alongside their son, reflecting a coordinated and formal family appearance.

The development comes shortly after his diplomatic posting, marking a transition from domestic politics to regional diplomacy as Kenya strengthens ties with neighbouring Uganda through high-level representation.

In his remarks, Namwamba said he had chosen to serve Africa, expressing appreciation for his new role and the hospitality extended to him and his family upon arrival in Uganda.

Photos shared online triggered public interest, with many reacting to the family’s coordinated look and the visible shift in lifestyle following his exit from Cabinet and entry into diplomatic service.

Namwamba now begins his tenure in Uganda, where he is expected to represent Kenya’s interests and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two East African neighbours at a diplomatic level.

Observers noted that the move reflects Kenya’s continued deployment of senior political figures into key diplomatic posts across the region, a strategy aimed at leveraging political experience in advancing foreign policy objectives.

The family’s public posts continue to attract attention as Namwamba settles into his role, balancing official duties with family life in Uganda’s capital region.
