At least six people have died and several others injured following a road accident involving a passenger bus and a lorry in Uganda.
The crash occurred at around 2:00 a.m. on Monday at Purongo Town Council in Nwoya District along the Pakwach–Olwiyo–Karuma highway.
According to reports by Daily Monitor, the bus was heading to Kampala from Arua and was carrying approximately 67 passengers at the time of the accident. The lorry involved in the collision was reportedly en route to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Nwoya Resident District Commissioner Christopher Omara confirmed the incident, stating that six people lost their lives at the scene.
He added that 14 injured passengers were rushed to Anaka General Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Authorities have not yet released full details on the cause of the crash, but investigations are ongoing.
The Karuma highway is a major transport corridor linking northern Uganda to Kampala and neighbouring countries, and has previously recorded multiple accidents, often attributed to heavy traffic and nighttime travel.
